About NBN Analytics

NBN Analytics is the independent stats and analysis hub for Nothing But Net, a long-running fantasy basketball simulation league. Where the league engine produces raw box scores, this site turns them into rankings, advanced metrics, scouting tools, and AI-assisted analysis so general managers can actually see what's happening across the league.

What we track

Every active player, every team, and decades of league history are kept in sync here. On a typical day the site refreshes player and team stat lines, standings and the playoff picture, free-agent availability, recent transactions (signings, waivers, trades and retirements), box scores, and contract/salary data. Retired players keep permanent career-history pages so the league's past is never lost.

The advanced metrics, explained

We don't just mirror the basic counting stats. Several of the numbers you'll see across the site are computed here and aren't available anywhere else. For a full, plain-English breakdown of how each one is built, see our Methodology page:

• VAR (Value Above Replacement) — a single, position-adjusted estimate of how much a player contributes above a freely-available replacement. It's broken into scoring, rebounding, playmaking, defense and efficiency components so you can see where a player's value comes from, not just how much.
• Fantasy scoring (NFPG) — net fantasy points per game under the league's scoring rules, used to rank real production rather than raw volume.
• Efficiency metrics — true shooting %, effective FG%, and per-36 rates that normalize for playing time so bench contributors and starters can be compared fairly.
• Player archetypes & scouting summaries — each active player gets a profile blurb describing role, skill set, contract trajectory and honors, derived deterministically from their season and career data.
• Mentors — All-Star-caliber veterans who can train young teammates, with the specific attribute bonuses each provides based on their career accolades.

Tools for managers

Beyond the tables, NBN Analytics includes a trade checker for testing deals against the salary cap, a chart builder for plotting any two stats against each other, head-to-head comparison views, an "Alike" tool that surfaces statistically similar players, and an AI Chat that answers natural-language questions using the same live league data shown on the site.

How current is the data?

The site is regenerated automatically as the league simulation advances, so standings, stats and transactions reflect the most recently completed games. Each page footer shows its own "Last Updated" timestamp.

NBN Analytics is a fan project built for the Nothing But Net community. It is not affiliated with the NBA or any professional league, and all team and player references belong to the NBN simulation. Questions, corrections, or feature ideas are always welcome through the league community.
